I decided that I wanted to get rid of the gate I had and to change it to build something sleek modern and beautiful that fit my home. I reached out to many different companies but Star Steel was referred the most. Eyal came out to my house and took care of everything extremely professionally. I contacted Eyal and his welding company and they were able to come out quickly to take care of it. They were punctual professional and easy to work with. The repair was done properly and the gate now opens and closes smoothly. The quality of the work was excellent and the pricing was fair. Star Steel was the only company that was reliable and responsive (all the companies got back to us quickly, but one was a no show and the others were noncommittal). The next day, Eyal showed up on time and fixed both gates within 20 minutes- the man definitely has experience and it shows! They are very communicative (almost too much- lol) and the price was fair. I put in a Yelp request for bids on the project and Eyal from Star Steel was the first to respond and to explain how he would make the repair. While his bid wasn't initially the least expensive he agreed to match the lowest bid. He sent out Alberto to make the repair the following day and Alberto did a great job welding the hinges with ones that are more heavy duty, priming them and then painting them.Posted on Google

We recently moved into our home and our first project was to replace an old, double-swing out driveway gate with a motorized single swing gate. We also needed rails brought up to code and some new ones installed. Eyal responded right away. He gave a competitive quote with the other companies we spoke to, and was able to do the work immediately. If I could give 6 stars for quality, I would. Especially on the railings. They're absolutely beautiful and far more durable than what was previously installed. The only reason I docked a star was for customer service. While Eyal and Star Steel are very communicative, it's not always effective communication. We had quite a few misunderstandings that led to a bit of stress on our end, especially when it came to changing an agreed upon price. Once we expressed our concern, it felt like there was some attitude, but Eyal rectified and offered back the price agreed upon. When we had to change part of our project after install (something entirely not his fault), he was very amenable to making the change. Overall, we're very pleased with the work itself. It's clear Star Steel is passionate about quality. I look forward to hopefully increasing this review to 5 stars in the future - either with more interaction with the Star Steel team or through the products passing the test of time!Posted on Google

After using Isaacs Ironworks, we were left with a broken mess of a gate for years that required all kinds of repairs and never worked properly. Star Steel came out and completely repaired and painted the entire gate and upgraded our motors and now we are so happy! We've already hired him again to design and install a new 8 foot wide entrance gate on the side of our home and we're thrilled with it too! Our first plan came in higher in cost than I was looking to do, and Eyal gladly came by the next day to help figure a way to scale the project to work for me. And with that, he was on the job working to build what I needed and within one week, I had the finished gates installed (3 in total, from a simple swing door to a large driveway gate that was engineered to follow the slope of the property when it opens). I will admit I didn't get multiple bids and price shop - I was so impressed with Eyal's enthusiasm and willingness to get this job done, I was happy to just get started and get the job done. I had reached out to another company first, but after not hearing back I connected with Star Steel who got back to me immediately, came out the same day and had my gate fixed the next morning. Patrick K.1592 days agoStar Steel gave me a fair price and was able to complete the steel gate needed within 3 days turnaround time. The reason why I had to knock off a star is because the initial gate that came had the handle/lock box on the wrong side of the double door entry. And instead of just going with the way it was fabricated, I insisted that I must have the handle/lock on the correct side. They took the gate/door back to the shop can returned the very next day with it properly fabricated. Dev V.1925 days agoEyal is the nicest guy! He came out and we talked about what we could do to replace my shaky and unsafe block steps leading up to my swimming pool equipment. We discussed what the steps and handrail would look like together and he gave me an estimate. Just a few days later we met again out by his truck and waited a few minutes for his guys to deliver the steps. Eyal and his crew carried it into the back yard and carefully bolted the steps into the wall and the concrete floor. Installation was very secure and took only a few minutes. So after much research, I can't begin to express how refreshing it was to meet with Eyal who responded to my inquiries in a timely manner, showed up on time to all our appointments, provided great insight into what options would best meet my needs and effectively managed my expectations on the timeline for completing the project. To provide some context, I was initially looking for a contractor to replace my old iron gate at the back of my Duplex. However, in addition, I also needed to repave the entire driveway area and get power from the electrical panel to the motor of the new motorized gate. Based on my previous experience, I fully expected to have to find three different contractors that I would manage and coordinate with to ensure everything was done right and on time. When Eyal came by to provide me with an Estimate for the gate, we also talked about the fact that I would need to coordinate his work on the gate with other contractors who would be doing the electrical work and repaving the driveway. He indicated that he could provide services to do the entire project. Recent experiences left me skeptical, so asked that he provide separate quotes for the gate and the driveway repaving which he was more than willing to accommodate. I received a detailed quote for both the very next day! From the first meeting with Eyal, I got a good vibe. He was professional, on time and very knowledgeable about not only the gate replacement but the nuances I needed to take into consideration for ensuring proper water drainage in the driveway area. Yves M.2350 days agoI have been doing some work around my house and hired Star Steel to fabricate a few railings for me. Star Steel actually fabricates the railings. I went to see his shop on Valerio in Van Nuys as trust is good but control is better. Eyal did what he said he would do, he delivered and installed a good product, it was primered and I hired a painter to finish it. It looks great ! I hired him again a week later to fabricate a new wrought iron steel panel after a design I saw on TV in an old building in Northern Italy. He fabricated a very simple design which I gave him and installed it. I found a wought iron guy who actually fabricates his own stuff. I would certainly use him again if I need anything else. Good person, honest guy and takes care of every concern before fabricating so there are no mistakes. We needed a safety rail at my aunt's house but due to scheduling conflicts we were not able to meet Star Steel at the residence to get a quote. Instead, they looked up the house on Google Maps, designed a railing from looking at the residence online, quoted a reasonable price, then scheduled the install without ever meeting me in person. I met crew member Alejandro the morning of the install, showed him the job and left for work. The custom railing was done by lunch and it's super sturdy and perfectly situated for my aunt. We also have caregivers who need access but we need to be able to delete their access when they're no longer working with us. After calling several places and getting nowhere, I called Star Steel and while speaking to the person who answered the phone, the owner picked up and came right away to take a look at the problem. They did the fence footing, two 6 foot tall pilasters and 75 feet of 6 foot tall fence, pedestrian gate and 33 foot rolling gate. Magnificent workmanship, built to agreed design, no adjustment to bid, and full installation in 4 days! Very pleased. One month after installation had a problem that gate motor would not respond to clicker and Eyal came out the next day to troubleshoot, It turned out to be a simple connector problem that he resolved on the spot. Within a couple of days, and all of the way from Chatsworth, Eyal, the owner of Star Steel appeared to give us an estimate on what was clearly a very small job. From the moment we met he was personable, knowledgeable, and unlike other vendors, did not try to upsell us to a heavier gauge of steel which for our purposes would have been MUCH more expensive and of zero necessity. Eyal REALLY knows his industry and the business. His quote was nearly the lowest of five (my confidence in him FAR exceeded the few extra dollars on his bid), the custom fabrication took only three days and install was done immediately after. Aside from one latch that needed a small adjustment (AGAIN, he drove all of the way from Chatsworth to keep us happy), everything was and remains perfect. His guys did a nice job on the install, the steel was all powder coated to the gloss brown that mom had requested and the locks and hardware were bronze to match. While Star Steel typically does VERY large jobs for sizable estates and businesses, clearly, they are happy to come out and earn the business of anyone willing to give them a call. I hired him because I liked his manner on the phone and because he undercut other estimates (plus he sent me an estimate, for free via email). He came out same day and worked really fast. I wasn't perfectly happy with some details, afterward, so emailed him and he called back immediately and he came back next day with a great attitude and made it right. Steel installed 2 locks and built strong lockboxes for 2 gates for our housing community. When we voiced concerns about a security question, Eyal made a special trip out to us on a very hot day to make sure we were happy. He welded more steel to make us comfortable with the lock boxes.
